| Hi Mele,
17 June 1999
Well, here's my first post from a
cyber cafe. I'm
at a place called comms.port in London. This is an internet access place
inside of a cafe. Anyway, here goes: ;-)
Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah,
Here I am at camp LAMBERT!!! (AKA Lambert field, St. Louis Airport)
I got in at 6:55 am and was prepared to head for a different concourse
at a dead run to make my connecting flight, when lo and behold the terminal
monitor said my flight was cancelled. Well, it wasn't cancelled last night
when I checked in at HNL.
A trip to the customer service produced a neew ticket to Newark that would
still get me there in time to connect to Air Canada. So I split the 6 hour
wait at Newark into 3 hours at Newark and 3 at St. Louis. Unfortunately,
St. Louis is NOT a 3 hour airport! There's nothing here but concourses of
gates and a deli that looks like it was rescued from a school being torn
down, and not in time, either. This airport could use a cybercafe - there's
nothing else to do but sleep, if you can. Jim |
