Monterroso Al Mare

Town # 5 in Cinque Terre

 Three weeks into our last trip, my aunt, daughter and I suddenly needed a sun and ocean fix. We quickly left Florence and took off to the Cinque Terre. Finding Rick's accommodation  recommendations filled, the helpful La Spezia TI found us a one star hotel in our price range (no charge) in Monterosso. Expecting to find a mini-Waikiki or at least an Italian version of Kailua Kona--we were delighted to find we were in Italy's "Hana".

We found our hotel one block east of the train station and next door to a Galati Garden Gallaria. We learned from a returning German couple that we had to phone the proprietor to get checked in. We did, and he appeared 5 minutes later riding a bike and carrying a celular phone. We got an ocean view triple with shower, toilet, and refrig for L90,000 including breakfast under an umbrella side walk table with Ocean waves crashing at our elblows! Wow, We were Home!
